SO WHAT EXACTLY IS PICKLEBALL?
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles to hit a perforated hollow ball over a net. The sport was invented in 1965 in the United States and has had a meteoric rise with growth of 223.5% over the last 3 years globally. In Australia we have tournaments in all States and Territories, and over 27,000+ players!
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports globally, with its unique blend of accessibility and excitement, making it suitable for players of all ages and skill levels. The sport's social aspect fosters community, as players often participate in group games and leagues, creating lasting friendships and connections. No previous racket-sport experience necessary - anyone can pick up a paddle and learn to "dink" the ball over the net.
With its easy-to-learn rules and low-impact nature, pickleball is not only a fantastic way to enjoy physical activity but also an opportunity for social interaction, making it a fun and positive experience for individuals and families.

VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering makes a major difference. Our volunteers are our superstars who keep the sessions running smoothly and allow us to run as many weekly sessions as we do!
Our club thrives thanks to the incredible efforts of our volunteers. Hosting sessions, running competitions, showing new players the ropes, helping us run events - our volunteers do it all. They are the backbone of our community, driving the development of pickleball and fuelling its growth in the Byron Bay area.
If you would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you!
